Facebook login opens Meta’s Embedded Signup in a popup. You pick or create the business portfolio, the WhatsApp account, and the phone number, and Meta hands Kylo a one-time code. Kylo exchanges the code, registers the number, and subscribes the webhook for you.

Before you start

  • An approved agent. The Channels page is available once the agent is approved. See Request an agent.
  • A Facebook or Meta Business login that can manage the business portfolio that owns, or will own, the WhatsApp account.
  • A phone number you can receive an SMS or a call on. Meta sends a verification code to a number you add. Per Meta’s Embedded Signup limits, business phone numbers can only be registered for the Cloud API, and a number that is already in the WhatsApp Business app needs a customized flow that Kylo does not run.
  • A browser that allows popups from Kylo. The popup closes by itself when the flow ends.
1

Open the connect dialog

Open your agent, select Channels, and select Connect on the WhatsApp card. The dialog is titled Connect WhatsApp and opens on the Facebook login tab.
2

Select Continue with Facebook

Select Continue with Facebook. Meta’s popup opens. Kylo waits up to five minutes for you to finish, then stops with “Embedded Signup timed out. Close the popup and try again.”
3

Walk through Meta's screens

The popup belongs to Meta, and Meta decides the screens and their order. It is rolling out a phone-number-first order, so some accounts see asset selection before the phone number. A typical run looks like this:
  1. Sign in. Authenticate with your Facebook or Meta Business credentials.
  2. Select your business assets. Choose an existing business portfolio and WhatsApp account, or create new ones.
  3. Add your phone number. Pick an already-registered number from the dropdown or enter a new one. Meta only sends a verification code to a number it does not already know, so existing numbers skip the code step.
  4. Review permissions and finish. Review what you grant Kylo, then select Finish on the success screen. Meta sends the account id, the phone number id, and the code back to Kylo, and the popup closes.
The screens and wording come from Meta’s Embedded Signup default flow. Meta can change them without notice.
4

Wait while Kylo finishes the connection

Back in Kylo, the button spins and the text Connecting WhatsApp… appears under it. On the server Kylo exchanges the code for a business token, subscribes its Meta app to your WhatsApp account’s webhooks, registers the phone number for the Cloud API, and reads the display name and number. If any of these fails, the connection is not saved.
5

Confirm the result

The dialog closes. The WhatsApp card on Channels now shows Manage in place of Connect.
Your agent is connected to WhatsApp. Confirm it on the next page, Verify the connection.

If the popup does not open or the dialog shows an error

A failure leaves a gray message in the dialog and nothing saved. You can select Continue with Facebook again. When Facebook’s script cannot run in your browser, because the page is on plain HTTP or the script failed to load, Kylo falls back to a redirect flow. It opens a facebook.com popup, and the connection finishes when Meta redirects back to Kylo and returns you to the agent’s Channels page. Allow popups for Kylo if nothing opens.

What Kylo stores

Kylo keeps the token encrypted and shows only its last four characters. It records the expiry Meta reports and refreshes the token automatically. The details are on WhatsApp token lifecycle.

Next: verify the connection

Check the status, the webhook, and send a first test message.
