The Playground runs real agent turns against your saved instructions, tools, and data sources. Use it to catch a wrong answer, a missing tool, or a bad channel setting before a customer does.

Before you start

  • An approved agent with a running plan. A paused agent refuses the turn with “This agent is paused until the plan is paid.”
  • Saved instructions. See Write agent instructions.
  • For the WhatsApp preview, a connected WhatsApp channel. See Connect WhatsApp.
1

Open the Playground and pick a channel

Select Playground. The Channel selector in the page header chooses what you test: Chatbot (the website chat widget) or WhatsApp. The selector also lists channels that are not available yet. If you pick one, the page says ” is not available yet.”, or “Connect WhatsApp before using it in the playground.” when WhatsApp has no connection, and offers View channels.
2

Send a test message

Type in the preview. With Chatbot you see the website bubble. With WhatsApp you see a phone, and the page shows a “Test AI Agent” label. Each message runs one agent turn, and the reply uses the agent’s tools. The thread is stored as a Playground conversation.
3

Check the Overview tab

The left panel has three or four tabs. Overview holds the Display Name field, a picture upload (select the agent picture), a Data sources summary that links to your sources, and the Instructions editor with the switch Sync with global instructions. While the switch is on, the note reads “You’re editing the global instructions. Changes apply to every channel that syncs with global instructions.” Turn it off to edit “These instructions apply only to this channel.”
4

Tune the chat bubble on the Display tab

With Chatbot selected, the second tab is Display. Under Content set Initial message, Message placeholder, and Footer, and switch capabilities on or off: Attachments, Voice to text (Dictation), Copy message, Delete conversations. Under Style pick the Accent color and the Bubble radius: Square, Soft, Rounded, or Pill.
5

Check the Connection tab

With WhatsApp selected, the second tab is Connection. It shows Connected phone number, the Channel enabled switch (“Pause this line without disconnecting it.”), and a Manage button that opens the Manage WhatsApp dialog with the webhook state, Subscribed or Not subscribed. Disconnecting here asks “Disconnect WhatsApp?”.
6

Check the Actions tab

Actions lists the tool groups the agent can use, under “Agent actions”: “Tools this agent may use. Enable or disable them on the Tools page.” A group appears only when its integration is connected.
7

Save what you changed

Edits on Overview and Display raise the same unsaved changes bar as the Instructions screen. Select Save changes or Discard.
Your agent is tested on the channel you chose.

What a test costs

A Playground turn is a real turn. Its reply spends credits the same way a live reply does, and the usage ledger records it with the note “Playground turn”. See Plan and credits.
